While Rockys Solar are happy to quote alternate panels on request, Rockys Solar generally recommends and quotes for installation of the following solar solar panels for our Gippsland solar installations.
Solar Panels for Gippsland Conditions
Panels installed by Rockys Solar are ideal for use in areas like Gippsland due to their excellent performance in low-light and their tolerance in high-heat conditions. In reality, solar panels spend little, if any, time in the perfect conditions of the testing chamber under which their nameplate ratings apply so performance in realistic conditions is an important consideration.
SUMEC Australia Phono Solar Panels
Rockys installs Sumec Phono Solar panels for both residential and commercial applications using 370W and 450W Mono PERC Twin Cell panels.
Phono Solar is a registered trade mark of SUMEC Australia, located in Sydney.
Panels are manufactured in China by Phono Solar Technology Co Ltd as a subsidiary of SUMEC Energy Holdings. SUMEC is a diversified manufacturer having been in business for over 40 years. This offers consumers a high level of confidence when it comes to long term warranties like those you get with Phono Solar Panels.
Phono Solar panels have a 25 year performance warranty and have now introduced a 15 + 5 year product warranty for residential installations. This means the standard 15 year product warranty can be optionally extended for an additional 5 years. SUMEC Australia offers local, Australian warranty support for all Phono Solar panels sold in Australia and gives customers the option to make warranty claims through their solar installer or directly through Sumec Australia.
Phono Solar panels are approved by the Clean Energy Council and registered for the Solar Panel Validation Initiative with the Clean Energy Regulator.
- 25 year performance warranty

Jinko Solar Panels
Jinko Solar panels offer the best value for money according to combined testing by the CSIRO and Choice Magazine. Jinko Solar panels were one of only two to score over 90% with an “excellent” performance rating. Taking price range into consideration, the Jinko Solar panels far outperformed its competitors.
The only panel to rate higher in performance than Jinko Solar was also 70% more expensive. In addition to lab testing, long term outdoor tests were performed by installing each of the solar panels in a field in NSW where they were exposed to Australian weather conditions and their performance monitored side by side for a period of 12 months.
Jinko Solar employ stringent testing including mechanical robustness which is vital for use in Australian conditions. Jinko Solar panels are ideal for use in areas like Gippsland due to their excellent performance in low-light and their tolerance in high-heat conditions.
The Jinko PERC (Passivated Emitter and Rear Cell) Solar Panels included in this proposal have a high energy density per square foot and perform well under low-light conditions and in high temperatures. The PERC technology incorporated into the panels results in increased efficiency due to addition of an extra layer at the rear of the cell. Not all light is absorbed by non-PERC solar cell, with the additional layer incorporated into the PERC panel, some of the light that would be have been unabsorbed is redirected back into the cell resulting in higher efficiency and less wasted energy.
Jinko have invested significant resources in research and development into PERC technology and have implemented industry-leading testing on their solar panels to avoid issues of of LeTID degradation ensuring their solar panels are of the highest quality.
This panel is a monocrystalline panel. Mono panels are cut from a single crystal ingot and are more efficient than polycrystalline (Poly) panels, with improved performance, better production at higher temperatures, and a lower rate of light-induced degradation over time.
