Rockys Solar recently installed a 15kW solar system for Sale businesses City Technology and Streakwave. CEO David Spunner started the businesses as a hobby in the humble Gippsland town of Maffra and in just 5 years has expanded to take on 9 full time employees and they are now Australian distributors for 16 brands of wireless point to point communications equipment.
With increasing electricity costs for their new offices and warehouse in Sale it became obvious that solar technology was going to be a wise investment and the business expects to see a return on their investment in as little as 4-5 years. “To eliminate the power bill and help the environment makes sense,” Davin said “We have LED lighting and use a rainwater tank for waste water so it all helps. In a few years we’ll probably have batteries added as well.”
As a local small business owner, Davin knows how important it is to support local business so when it came to choosing between two similarly matched quotes it was obvious to him which direction he wanted to go and that decision paid off. “I had no issues at all with the installation,” said Davin, “When I gave the go ahead, the process was pretty quick, it was only 1 and a half weeks for it to be done.”
Rockys installed 46 Jinko solar panels on the warehouse roof using tilt frames to maximise solar exposure and a 3 phase 15kW Fronius inverter.
